Galician (galego) is spoken in Galicia, the corner of Spain just above Portugal. Portuguese and Galician aren't cousins — they're siblings, both from one medieval language (Galician-Portuguese). Spanish is a true cousin: it looks similar on paper but sounds different because Portuguese swallows its vowels and adds nasal sounds.
